Yesterday was blisteringly hot. Around 38 degrees. It was far too hot to be out and about, so I bit the bullet and got the ‘new’ video camera out of the box. I purchased it over a year ago in preparation for filming the creation of the Earth Collective project, which was a little premature.
I had in mind to make a test video about my current Portuguese home on a rural urban farm, and do a ‘meet and greet’ with the animals. Well, that’s what I thought. In preparation for the day when I would actually use the camera, I had watched a stack of video tutorials some time ago but forgotten a fair bit, which was unfortunate. Also, I had finally managed to get my editing software working (which involved buying a second laptop, as it the programme I had bought and with which I was familiar, didn’t work on the open source system I now use), so there really was no excuse. It took all day. I had to re-do some sections a few times and find copyright-free music. But as it was meant to be a practise run, and not for publication, it didn’t matter.
However, the sky was so blue, the vegetation so lush and the animals so sweet, that I couldn’t help myself. So, I apologise for some repetition of favourite phrases. It’s short and sweet. I think you will like it. I had a slight issue with the volume setting which was resolved after a deep-dive into online forums last night, and this will make it easier in the future. For this video, though, I have increased the volume whilst editing but you might need to put it up a little more. Enjoy!
